[ F ] Né en 1927 dans la préfecture d’Aomori au Japon, Noboru Baba s’est d’abord fait illustrateur de manga à Tokyo, où il est arrivé en 1949. À ce titre, il est rapidement devenu un acteur clé du domaine. Au cours des années soixante, il s’est tourné vers la création d’albums jeunesse. La critique l’a alors largement reconnu en tant qu’auteur. La série des onze matous est caractéristique de son style visuel : des lignes fines, des contours arrondis, une explosion de couleurs pastel et un humour espiègle.

[ E ] Noboru Baba was born in 1927 in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, in 1927. In 1949, he moved to Tokyo. There he first worked as a manga illustrator. In this capacity, he quickly became a key player in the field. During the sixties, he turned to the creation of youth albums. The critic then widely recognized him as an author. His series presenting the adventures of eleven cats is typical of the artist's style: fine lines, rounded contours, an explosion of pastel colors and a mischievous sense of humour.
